Tai Chi Chuan (aka taiji quan) is an internal Chinese martial art often practiced for health reasons. In many large parks in mainland China you will find various groups scattered throughout each area of the park practising together every morning and every evening - sometimes as many as 100 people per group. Tai chi offers a variety of benefits its hard and soft martial art technique, relaxation and healing, health and longevity.

The gentle, non-impact movements of tai chi chuan are based on coordinated breathing, relaxation and developing a harmony of breathing with movement to allow you to move effortlessly.

Benefits of tai chi quan include:

  • enhanced immune system
  • cardiovascular fitness
  • balance control, flexibility

Tai Chi Chuan has also shown benefits in individuals recovering from chronic stroke, heart failure, high blood pressure, heart attacks

Shifu Dave Meikle is the previous Western Canadian Champion, West Coast Can-Am Champion, and holds other various awards for his tai chi abilities. Shifu Dave Meikle has taught kung fu and tai chi classes at Kwantlen University in Richmond BC, Wuhan Hubei (China), Ping Shan Guangdong (China) and tai chi in Hong Kong.
